Stop, take a minute and look around. Every day. It’s not about the big things that happen to you but the spaces in between. Because that my friends is MOST of life. Don’t miss it.

One day I will sit here, in this very place, and write and think and drink wine and labor over a great book.

I’m a weird kid. Always have been, always will. So what?  It takes way more work to be anyone else. And I’ve already wasted too many years trying to be things other people wanted me to be, trying on different people to see which one fit.  Then one day, seemingly out of nowhere, I just stopped. As I started to look underneath all those hats, all those representatives I had been sending out in to the world all those years… I liked what I saw. So began the process of stripping away all the “stuff” I had accumulated along the way. Now I try to be the cleanest, most bare bones version of myself. I’m not always successful. But I’m happiest when I achieve that state. Being comfortable with who you truly are and not being afraid to show THAT person to the world is one of the most valuable things I’ve learned in the last few years. It’s not always easy. Old habits die hard. But I work at it every day.

Let go. Be a little reckless. Get out of your comfort zone and live. Love. Dance. Stretch. Forget everything you’ve been taught and try something new. Every once in a while. And see the magic of life unfold. Shannon Fitzgerald

Success does not happen overnight. Be prepared to do whatever it takes. 10 jobs I did along the way. 1. Full time nanny (aged 12) for 3 kids of struggling, single mum 2. Office temp. 3. Sold wild rice at livestock fair 4. Sold milk at same livestock fair 5. Shoe saleswoman 6. Sales assistant at small pharmacy; price tagged products and worked cash register. 7. Door to door flyer delivery in sub-zero, Canadian winters 8. Mail opener at tv station in London 9. Low level paper pusher at import/export company in dank, East London warehouse. 10. Sold jeans and sweatshirts at a retail store

Be the zag to life’s zig.

Successful people have the ability to look back on their lives with compassion for their mistakes and gratitude for everything they have encountered along the way. For these are the things that SHAPED them.

Just keep going. One foot in front of the other.

Do you - respectfully. Go against the grain - respectfully. Push boundaries - respectfully. And marvel at the results.

If you pretend to be someone you’re not, and it’s a someone LOTS of people like, maybe even love…. remember this; they’re not in love with YOU. They’re in love with the representative you sent. Now tell me… how on earth can that be fulfilling? Be yourself. For God sakes, just get good at that! Then those who are still around will really matter. Sure that group might be a smaller number. But boy will they count.

My God just be yourself…

Make eye contact; it lets people know you are present when talking to them. Your time and focus, even briefly, is the best gift you can give someone. 

SHORT FILM; What If Animals Ate Fast Food. Your body is your temple. Treat it with respect. Anything less is disrespecting the packaging that houses your thoughts, dreams, mind, love and potential.

Don’t become a wandering generality. Be a meaningful specific.

One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl. I wear colors that I really like, I wear makeup that makes me feel pretty, and it really helps. It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it.

If you pay attention to the movies they will tell you what people desire and fear. Movies are hardly ever about what they seem to be about. Look at a movie that a lot of people love, and you will find something profound, no matter how silly the film may be.

If you’re busy regretting the past, then a new future can’t come in. ~

You’re under no obligation to be the same person you were five minutes ago.

Do not simplify. Do not worry about failure. Failure is a badge of honour. It means you risked failure.
